Key Findings

One-page resumes have a 25% higher interview callback rate

Resumes with exactly one page of content received 25% more interview invitations than two-page resumes for candidates with under 10 years of experience. However, for senior roles (15+ years), two-page resumes performed 18% better.

Action verbs in the first 3 bullets increase scan time by 40%

Resumes that started experience entries with strong action verbs like "Spearheaded," "Architected," and "Optimized" held recruiters attention 40% longer than those starting with weak verbs like "Responsible for" or "Helped with."

Tailored resumes score 71% higher on ATS compatibility

Resumes that included keywords from the specific job description scored an average ATS compatibility of 89/100 vs 52/100 for generic resumes. This was the single highest-impact factor we identified.

Inter is the most used font among top-scoring resumes

Among the top 10% of ATS-scored resumes, Inter was the most common font (34%), followed by Arial (28%) and Calibri (22%). Script or decorative fonts appeared in only 2% of top-scoring resumes.

Resumes with quantified achievements get 2.1x more views

Resumes containing numbers, percentages, or dollar amounts in experience bullet points received 2.1x more views by recruiters on average. Bullets with metrics were 3.4x more likely to include the job title in subsequent callbacks.

The skills section is the most ATS-scanned section

ATS systems spend 47% of their parsing time on the skills section. Yet 32% of analyzed resumes had incomplete or poorly organized skills sections. A dedicated skills section with 8-15 relevant skills performed best.

Remote work keywords increased callback rates by 33%

Resumes mentioning "remote," "hybrid," or "distributed team" in their summary or experience sections had 33% higher callback rates for roles listing remote/hybrid options.

Templates with clean, single-column layouts pass ATS 98% of the time

Single-column, clean templates passed ATS parsing 98% of the time. Multi-column or creative templates had a 23% failure rate. All GrowMyResume templates are single-column and ATS-optimized.
